Overview of Dental Insurance

We realize that dental benefit plans are an important part of the family healthcare planning. At the completion of your treatment, our staff will assist you in the completion of your claim forms so that you may receive the maximum benefits. Some insurance companies ask for a "predetermination" or "preauthorization" before dental treatments. Due to the emergency need of many of our procedures, written preauthorization is often impractical. Most insurance companies recognize this and do not compromise your reimbursement if an endodontic procedure is not preauthorized. However, we cannot guarantee that this will be true in your case. Some insurance companies base the amount of benefit on a schedule of fees arbitrarily developed by the company. For this reason, you may receive a lower percentage of the reimbursement level indicated in your dental plan. For example, if your plan states that it will pay 80%, that means 80% of the fee arbitrarily set by the insurance company, and not the fee actually charged by endodontists. We strongly believe that you deserve the highest level of care throughout your endodontic treatment. An insurance company's payment structure does not always coincide with our standard of care or the fees we charge. The reimbursement you receive from your insurance company is determined by whatever benefit coverage your employer has negotiated. If you are unhappy with your benefits, you may speak with your employer to upgrade the company's plan.

Assignment of Benefits

If your insurance company will give us a preestimate of their compensation and assign benefits to us, we will accept their promise of payment. You will be responsible for the balance, which is due in full as treatment is being rendered. There may be a final variance between the amount estimated and the amount received. If the insurance company has paid more than estimated, we will send you a check for the overpayment. If there is a balance you still owe, we will notify you and it will be due immediately.
